Went out on the railroad bridge where Crab Creek empties into Moses Lake around 1:00. Fished for about fifteen minutes, trying a couple different soft plastics until a 5 lb smallmouth ripped into a green pumpkin colored, Texas-rigged Riverbug. I was very surprised to see a fish that size and as healthy looking as it did come out of that channel this time of year, and to my enjoyment it was followed by three more smallmouths-- all right around 3 lbs. Best day of fishing I've had so far on Moses Lake since I moved here. If you lack a boat, this is a valuable shore spot.

WOW, that is a well spent 15 minutes, nice fish. The smallies fight SO HARD over there because they are usually fighting current.

Without a doubt! These fish were hanging up against the north edge of the channel-- feeding on craws I believe. I was pretty stoked. And I just realized my wording might have been misinterpreted; it took me fifteen minutes until I landed the first 5-pounder. The other three I caught over the course of the next hour and a half.

How many inches long was the 5 lb? Thanks!

He was just under 19" nose to tail. I didn't measure girth, but it was definitely a well-fed fish. I'd estimate it to have been 4" at the widest.

Dang, that's even better for the one fish. Were u in current? It sure makes it tougher. I gotta get back over there, Potholes, Long and Scootney.

They were just on the edge of the current but they ran into the current once hooked. The channel edges there drop off pretty sharp so these guys were hugging the wall is my guess.
