Second time fishing saltwater, took my kid on our floating balloon (inflatable kayak) and we targeted flounder just because it tastes good and is fairly easy to catch.
We ended up having a great day catching a lot of different fishes, and honestly speaking, most of them by accident. That was my second time fishing saltwater in my entire life, and watching videos on Youtube can't only teach much.
We were getting Flounders quite constantly, but returning most of them until we landed 4 well-sized ones.
We also got 2 salmon (1 Coho, 1 atlantic), not too big, but fun... we didn't release because one was in bad shape (hook went through the eye) and the other was the atlantic salmon, so we just kept it.
Funny thing, though, we caught 1 cabezon, 1 rockfish (release immediately and safely) and even a crab! I was pulling the line and felt the weight, but no shake at all, so I thought it was just a bunch of seaweed. To my surprise, there was this crab holding the artificial bait with the claw, almost like sitting on the sinker. Quite funny, but we quickly released it, too.
I wish I took some photos, but last week (1st time saltwater fishing) i ended up killing 2 smartphones (1 cracked the screen before going into the kayak, the other one drowned), so I decided to keep the phone away from the water (and from me).
Lots of fun.
