Whoa... it's been tough for me fishing the banks for bass. I've been starting early in the morning trying to see if I can catch them feeding close to shore, but it's been very slow. Went 3 times to Coulon over the past week and half, and I've been skunked all 3 times! I tried throwing a whopper plopper, squarebill crankbait, and my tried/true Ned rig and shakey heads. I also tried the Mojo rig for the first time, which was really great for being weedless when fishing the submerged grass. Maybe I just don't have the feel for it yet, but I didn't get a single bite. Used a Zoom trick worm on the Mojo rig with a 1/8th oz sinker pegged 18 inches above the hook.
Maybe a lot of the fish are still out deep in the summer patterns... I'm looking forward to the fall bite heating up soon. I'm waiting from some off-season sales on kayaks. It would be great to have some way of getting out on the water. In the meantime, I'll just keep doing my best from shore.
