My neighbor Daniel offered to take me out on the sound. I quickly re-scheduled my clients for another day.
Within 5 minutes I had my first fish on. Landed a smaller, maybe 4# coho hen at 35' deep. Daniel quickly and skillfully applied a strip of cured herring then dropped it back down using a downrigger. Fish were showing on the finder at 45-65' so we dropped down to join them. We picked up a few shakers and a few hard hits that did not stick, then wammo! Great fight, an aerial + a few spins off the real... Then he was mine. Nice 8-10# buck. We had one more good fight and landed an 8-10# hen. 10:00am arrived, so we headed to the dock. What a fun day! Thanks Daniel. Let's do it again some time soon.
Successful setup was a coyote/squid combo with herring strip.
We stayed outside of the crowd most of the time, and caught our fish when we zig-zagged in reference to the shoreline.
