Did not plan on fishing but woke up at 5:30. Got up, showered, loaded up the boat and hit the water for a short morning trip for Coho. Was making the run from Coulon to the East shore of the 520 Bridge with a beautiful morning sunrise greeting me. Got up there and found that 4 rotator cuff surgeries and a cold trolling motor are not a good combination... Might have to rethink the bigger 4 stroke. Got it going and set up at 2,0-2.3 mph, dropped a pink blade and pink hoochie to 75 feet and 75 feet back. Had the electronics going and saw some marks all over the column. Pretty shortly I had a hit and pulled in a 17" Cutt. About 45 minutes later caught a 16" Cutt. Another hour went by and the pole dipped again. This time it was stripping line! After a long back and forth fight I pulled in a very nice 24" Coho! My first 'keeper' of the year! I resisted the temptation to 'woop and holla' but was pretty cranked. Used a 7' Ugly Stik 'Crappie' spinning rod in 'medium light' with 10lb braid on it. The flex kept me from loosing the fish at the boat with all my fooling around trying to net the fish. Good few hours of fishing!
