Not a secret spot here. I just couldn't find Montana in the area fished.
I gave this report a 4 not because of abundant fish but because we had never fished the lake before, still caught fish, and had a great time.
I finally got a chance to fish the Noxon Reservoir in Montana. I went with Mark K and the Packer nut. With no idea where to start we headed for the first shoreline that had weed cover. Within the first hour we had a nice fish follow back to the boat without hitting the bait. A few minutes later the Packernut landed a nice large mouth bass, just a little under 4 pounds. There was a bass tourney going on and I would imagine some of it's entrants wouldn't have minded having that one in the boat. A short time later, Mark K got bit with no hook up, then on the same retrieve, had two nice pike following his spoon. As luck or lack there of, for him, one of the fish decided to make it's way to my beloved Glidin Rap. Fish on!! I landed a 36" 11 pounder, Mark expressed his disappointment that the fish hit my lure instead of his, and we went back to fishing. We scanned the distant shoreline looking for our next destination. We decided to try a shoreline we saw across the lake that had little to no slope, hoping for a nice weed covered flat. We found what we were looking for and started fishing. A short time later we had a follow, then I caught a nice 35" 10 pounder. Followed by a 25"er. BY the end of the day we managed to land a total of 5 pike and 4 bass. Mark K ended the day with 2 pike, his largest being a nice fat 29"er that weighed just under 7 pounds. The weather cooperated and we had minimal rain drizzles, followed by late afternoon sunshine. Water temps were in the low to mid 60's and the water clarity was very good. I would say we had a successful trip as we released the fish I mentioned along with missing at least aa half dozen others, including a fish in the 13 pound range that tried to hit Mark K's spoon right at the boat.
