Launched at Lincoln at 7:30 and started fishing the rocks directly across from the launch. Thought I would start with an orange Kekeda and a perch Kekeda. Got the orange Kekeda set and down 12' on the downrigger, start letting out line with the perch and the orange rod starts dancing. Wow, that was quick but I've been fooled by an early fish before. Bring a chunky little 15" rainbow to the net. Nice! Get both lines out again and don't even have time to pour my coffee before the perch goes off. I took the worms off the hooks for fear that I'd be done in 30 minutes. Good call because in the next ten minutes I got back to back doubles! That was fun to sort out and net by myself. On the first double while trying to net the second fish the first flopped out back into the water. I was just laughing and having a great time. Not even 30 minutes into my day and I have 6 fish. I kept heading down the shoreline and both rods are going tit for tat with fish after fish. The wind had been blowing steadily the whole time I was fishing. Then the wind died down about the time I got past the point starting towards sterling. Didn't have a bite for a while and the rain started. It was 9:30 and I had 11 fish in the net so I decided to call it a short day and get back to the family. Kept the first two for my mom and the rest were sent back. I couldn't tell you which fly caught 6 and which caught 5. The orange and perch were both working their magic that day. Nothing over 16" though. Tried hitting some of the rock points and sand flats along that stretch as well as some deeper water but none of the big boys were there or willing to bite. Had a lot of fun on this solo trip. Flies were down 12 and 7 feet on the downriggers, speed was 2.2 to 2.5, and water was 54 degrees.

Great Report Dave! I enjoy doing it all by myself sometimes too. Keeps a fellow busy keeping the boat lined out and landing fish at the same time. I was tipping my flies with the pink artificial maggots which seemed to out perform the worms. I only had 2 big ones and they were both wild. Hope those 15s were catching turn into 18s soon.

Thanks Mark. I got spun around a time or two working two lines and fighting the wind but I was in no rush. I'm hoping they put on at least an inch or two here quickly with the fall weather. I'll have to give the maggots a try. Used them for Kokanee but don't think I've used them for winter trout. Be a lot easier than remembering worms and keeping them alive. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the report Dave. Catching doubles by yourself is a hoot! Your Kekeda flies are a winner for sure.
I wont get to fish Roosevelt till after Thanksgiving so I'm very glad to hear others adventures. Tight lines Alan

Thanks Alan. I've had to live through others' fishing reports many time myself. Glad the report gave you something to look forward to. Good news is they'll be waiting and willing when you do get out there. Thanks for always being a supporter of the flies. I truly appreciate it.

great report ! gotta go the next nice day - i'll take three each, order to follow - have had a couple of doubles this year, sure
does get confusing - i usually grab the pole that goes the furthest down and got hit the hardest - doesn't work all the time, but
i'm with you, it's great for a laugh.

I know what you mean. I've been tricked, and laughed at, for calling "big fish" only to have a 14" rainbow come to the boat. Saw your report on Rock, sounds like it's turned on there too.
