It was grind it out fishing on Lk Sammamish on Friday. Fish were really scattered. We did manage to get four in the boat, three about 15 inches and one nice fat pig about 18 inches. One came home, C&R the others.

All four fish were caught in the 40 foot depth range. We tried just about everything but the success came on 1.8" Old Goats in the black/white pattern and blue/green pattern, and a green spinner with a worm chunk. All behind a Sling Blade flasher. Old Goats 18" leader and spinner a 14" leader. Speed about 1.5-1.75mph.

My buddy was out earlier in the week and knocked it out of the park, 10 fish to the boat in about 4 hours. We werent so lucky on Friday but it was still a fantastic day. Weather was fabulous. Sometimes its not about the number of fish in the box. We really had to work at it, as it should be.

Tried to mark "hotspots" on the map but wouldn't work for some reason. Really wouldn't call them hot spots anyway, just where we caught fish. We covered a lot of ground hunting for them. Starting at the launch, all the way up East Lk Samm Pkwy side then over to the other side thru Bass Bay down past the weather buoy and back to the launch!

Tight lines.
Randy

Randy: Thanks for putting the OG1s to work out there! (I need to get the airbrush fired up and paint-up a fresh batch of those blue/green 1.8s...) --Donn

Saturday was probably about the same. I saw fish at the same depths in about 70 to 85 fow. Not very tightly grouped. I looked further north than you fished, but sounds like they are scattered about the same. I didn't troll for them, just was looking to see what was around. One person who was trolling told me he had caught two in the morning, so I think the catch rate is about the same as you. Thanks for the report.

Hi Randy. I would like to buy a selection of Old Goats but I don't really see the ones you described. I don't see the black/white pattern or the blue/green in the 1.8 inch size. Do you use the larger size lures? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ben

Hey Ben, I checked with Old Goat and looked at the website. And all the 1.8" OG-1's are shown except the blue/green which will be in the store next week. I think there was an update/upgrade going on and some of the lures might not have been up when you checked. I cant say I have a preference for a particular one since I have caught fish on all the 1.8" lures. My only suggestion is a little longer leader in the 18-20 inch range. The dang things are sure working for me.
