It seems like the ‘catching’ in American Lake has been slow/poor this year compared to previous years. I was out there again Monday (Oct 30), saw plenty of sonar fish, and had only two weak drive-by nibbles.

10/31/2017 9:28:59 AMBilgewater many years ago it was lites out catching but only for a couple years. Since then is has been slow. What I have seen from reports (personal or online) is that the ones who put in many hours on this lake do better than those who don't. I haven't. Now that I have the cameras I saw that what I thought was 1 bite=1 fish didn't mean that they weren't there. I was by the pay launch and only saw a few fish on the cameras. Moved over by the military side and there were several fish and follows. Since this is a large lake and one spends most of their time in an area that doesn't have the fish you want, like I did, lends to less prime time where they are. Then it also is the bait right. I saw fish seem to mouth the bait w/o a strike or come and turn away. I also switched out to a part of a nightcrawler had I known I might not have done that. My camera is not in real time.
