This report covers both Saturday and Sunday fishing. Launched out of Edmonds and fished primarily near Kingston. There were lots of gill netters out on Saturday during the incoming tide, they were all the way from Apple Cove Point to as far south as I could see (Jeff Head). There were only a handful of netters on Sunday.

Saturday: Started fishing around 11:30 in the middle of the incoming tide. We mostly trolled near Apple Cove point down towards the Kingston Ferry. We were marking lots of schools of salmon in 60 to 200 feet of water, even saw quite a few chum jumping and finning the surface. We were hopeful since we knew the salmon were there, but as the hours dragged on with ZERO strikes we finally threw in the towel and swung by the oil docks for our last try. Had one hookup there on a herring aid kingfisher spoon, but it spit the hook 10 feet from the boat. I'm guessing it was a coho...

Sunday: Basically the same story as the day before. Marked lots of fish on the fish finder. Caught one nice blackmouth, but had to let it go since those aren't legal until November 1. Not a single chum in the cooler. Both days we started with green flashers and green hootchies with a herring strip, trolled slow. trolled fast, switched hootchie colors (lots of times, tried every color of the rainbow), tried kingfisher spoons, coho killers, those chum just did not want to bite.

Pretty frustrating since we had a great time catching chum near there a few years ago while fishing for coho. Not sure if the nets in the water spooked the fish, or if they just had lock-jaw. Here's hoping we have better luck next time.

At times I've also done well on Chums at Kingston. But it always seems like the Chums there hit like mad or nothing there at all. Either there is a pretty narrow window when the fish are there or they are just moody. Thanks for the report.
