Met up with Ron and Daniel and headed to Seven Bays to fish Roosevelt. Also called Fish Dawg (Bryan) and he expressed interest in meeting us at Roosevelt. He, of all the crazy stuff, left the Tacoma area at 3:45 AM to meet us!! Fishermen are nuts for sure. We all arrived with 15 minutes of each other and put the boat in without issue. The temp was around 32 degrees with a slight wind.
Started fishing as we came out past the buoys. Went out past the point to the right and my rod with the orange Kekeda went off. Looks like we are into them....not so fast! All stayed quiet for the next 1/2 hour and finally another rod went off. It was really slow so we decided to troll towards Hawk Creek. Still no love. Picked up and ran to A Rock....still no love. Trolled all the way to Sterling and finally had some hits after running through a bunch of tackle. We had a bite come on about 1:30, if you could call it that, with the hottest lure being the Baby Bass Cultiva trolled at 2.0 mph, water was a chilly 36 degrees. Ended up with 7 in the boat and one beautiful wild released.
Lots of Big Horn sheep today along with Bald Eagles; Roosevelt is so awesome! Quit around 3:15 to get back to the ramp before dark. Some fog coming home but all in all a great day in January.
PS We have the iTroll on Ron's boat too. Take a look at our new web site www.iFishSolutions.com . Sure nice to have precision throttle control on the remote mounted Yamaha T8. Having a top and heater is awesome too! Tight lines everybody, be safe out there in the winter. See you at The Sportsman's Show in Puyallup coming up in a couple of weeks. - Alan
