I went ice fishing today and also last weekend, caught plenty of fish both weekends. Today i landed 2 small brookies and 7 pennask strain rainbows and a fraser valley strain rainbow. The average size pennask was 18" although i got broke off by a much larger fish.
Last weekend was similar except i landed 3 brooks and 1 pennask and lost a few others.
My rig is a ruby eyed wobbler tied to my mainline, 16" of 4lb tippet, #4 owner no escape (barbless) hook and half a worm or piece of krill.
Please keep in mind that it is perfectly legal to release fish caught on bait in BC and is common practice here. The use of barbless hooks and the fact that the lure is constantly jigged causes the fish to be lip hooked 100% of the time and not harmed.
