I had the morning available for fishing prior to the Viking's game (Our #2 team).
Fog cleared after 9am and it was gorgeous out on the lake! Very low stress launch, although the dock was a bit slippery. All fishermen I encountered were very friendly, even helping with docking and launching of my 18' Smokercraft. If there was a place to rate this, my score would have been much higher.
9am-noon, East side of lake: Fished about 10-20' deep with lead core and home made gold, silver with smile blade, tipped with crawler. Switched that up to a 50/50, then later a pink/black/white pattern gods tooth. Had one bite. Other line on the downrigger I changed out patterns of clown, 50/50 dodgers with 50/50 god's tooth, wedding ring and crawler tipped. no bites. Saw on the finder a few really good marks and a couple of dips at the bottom that were loaded with fish. Circled back, but could not seem to find again...hope to return tomorrow and hit the west side of the lake. JoshH: I am not sure where I went wrong. I was trying to replicate the good results you had on the East side of the lake. Oh well. Still a great day on the water. Happy fishing!

Oops. I just looked at a map and realized that I fished the North shore line from the boat launch. Also, I could have dropped my downrigger closer to the bottom.

Hey JoshH, It is another beautiful day! I was on the fence this morning, but would be a Short day. I decided to stay home and take care of some things around the house. On the stationary bike right now. Really needed the cardio workout. All things in balance. I am curious to hear how you guys do this morning. Sorry to miss out in the fun.

Today we were just trying areas etc. West side fishing bottom was bad. Way too much lake salad. We we probably dragging stuff most of the morning. East shoreline - 40 feet of water about 30 feet down is where I found my success 2 weeks ago. It's hard fishing how I was though because the bottom contour rises and drops erratically. Very difficult keeping my gear where I wanted it. Watching the sonar constantly and either moving my gear up/down in a hurry or swinging in and out trying to stay in that sweet spot.

I'll probably try Cavanaugh again next time I get out. I'll let you know when I go there.

Thanks JoshH for letting me know about the salad of the day. Did you find any takers? Cavenaugh is a pretty cool and interesting lake with a great view from the north end. Could definitely hold some nice sized cutts.

No takers. We spent a little bit fiddling around to see if any Kokes were on the take... they weren't, just like we thought. Tried the west end for quite awhile, fishing near bottom. We probably were dragging salad around the entire time. East end dragging your gear along bottom I found MUCH easier in my hobie. Spent part of the day picking stuff off our gear there too, as well as unhooking twice from something we got snagged on, which wound up being a nasty old rag of some type. We also spent some time filming and checking out the different action for different salt water set ups for the God's Tooth. Didn't really spend a ton of time seriously fishing.
