2/12/2018 11:00:43 AMIt's not just you. Fishing is tough this time of year and we haven't been marking any fish either. Whish doesn't mean much since we rarely marked fish even when the Koke fishing was hot a couple years ago.

2/12/2018 11:30:45 AMThat's why they call it fishing, not catching - posted a report after myself and neighbor/fish'in buddy were on the lake last Wednesday
and it wasn't the best of days, but he did nail two nice ones - both he and I are in our very late 70's and caught our first fish over 70 years
ago - me in CO and MN and he in ND. Read the reports on this website,past and present, follow what others use, and go where the
other boats do - two ideas come to mind.......Monkey see, monkey do and persistence is omnipotent - better times will come - the annual
draw down doesn't help cuz they will scatter as they don't want to get caught when the pond goes dry so to speak, AND, just when you think
you've got them figured out they'll throw you a curve. We hope to be out there again later this week, hope to see you.

2/12/2018 12:16:00 PMA much better speed I found has been 1.7mph +or- . this time of year they are usually on top and unless you are right over them you won't mark them!

2/12/2018 12:23:41 PMThanks wetworker57. When you say “on top”, do you mean literally? I ran flies from my downriggers at 5 and 10 feet. Maybe just let them ride on top? I’ll try slowing up a bit too. Thanks for the tips.

2/12/2018 2:01:09 PMHang in there Scooter, and my compliments to you for being such a great father to your son and showing him the great outdoors. I'm certainly no expert on Roosevelt but I do know that Austin Moser (Austin's Northwest Adventures) is a guide who frequents there a LOT and he does catch a lot of fish if they are to be had. He might be the guide that can help you kick stat your success. I have also heard from multiple sources that Rufus Woods below Grand Coulee is producing a lot of very nice triploids. That may also be a great way to get your son into some really nice fish.

2/13/2018 10:19:47 PMThanks for the report. Couple of observations. I normally will troll much closer to 1 mph and no deeper than 15ft. I have found I need to have a setback at about 200ft. For me, pink lures seems to be at the top of the list. Best of luck.

2/17/2018 9:20:06 PMSpokaneScooter .... Get yourself a handful of J-9 jointed Rapalas. Orange back with white belly, rainbow trout, and dark perch. Troll these 300 feet back, with no weight, at 1.7 to 2.7 mph. If this doesn't produce, it ain't gonna happen. In the last 20 years, this has always produced, and if not, the bite is just tough.
