Had the privilege to fish with the grandson of John from John sporting goods in Everett. Fished out of my friends boat and he was his guest for the day.(as well as me lol)
Launched my buddy's boat at about 630 and ran over to west possession. Shortly after that we lost both DR wights to the popeller as the wind was kicking tough and blowing us around.
Headed back to Everett boat ramp to pick up new weights with our heads down and spirits low.
Didn't get back to fishing until around 11 am but this time headed towards hat island. Within the first few minutes on our first pass we had hooked up to a couple of shakers.
After several shakers he finally hooked up into a bigger fish. Roughly 10lbs but had to go back as it had an extra fin.
A few hours go past and my rods start bouncing, release the clip and this fish feels decent. After a short fight finally brought in a nice keeper size blackmouth. I used an old goat lure the I modified myself. Used 2 tandem tied 3/0 sickle hooks straight to the line with no added split ring or swivel on 42in 25lb flouro line behind a red racer flasher. Only keeper of the day but after a tough start it was better then coming home empty handed
