Took my daughter to Beaver to see if we could rustle up some dinner. Got to the launch about 1:45. There were a number of boats (kayaks, tubes, and boats) on the water and quite a few people fishing from shore between the park and the launch. We started trolling a spoon and a flatfish. The spoon was getting no love, but the flatfish was getting a lot of bumps. Finally hooked one on the flatfish. Saw a number of trout being caught by a fly fisherman and others using lures being cast near shore, so moved to a secluded location close to a wooded shoreline and switched to a small jig under a float. Didn't bring an anchor, so I manned the motor to fight the ever changing breeze while my daughter fished. She was getting lots of takedowns, but having a hard time hooking them. She managed to get a couple to the boat over the next hour, so was happy with the pursuit. I took a few swings at it and also missed a few before hooking one. Got enough for dinner, so called it a day. The fish were not large (~8-9") but plenty of action to keep us entertained, so a successful trip. Color didn't seem to matter. We mainly used a brown jig, but saw other colors being used successfully.
