Launched out of Ft. Spokane at first light and headed up the Arm. Fished the first island and caught 6 small eyes. All were caught jigging in 20-25 FOW. A red head with a pumpkin colored grub produced the best. From there we headed up to buoy 2 and after many drifts we caught another 14 eyes. Most were caught in 30+ FOW; the water is very dirty and a black jig head with brown or dark green soft plastics work OK. We had to switch out colors frequently and even then most of the bites were just weight. My buddy also caught a very nice 5 lb. smallie while jigging. Out of the 21 eyes we caught only 7 were worth keeping. My guess is that with the recent snow melt the Arm is going to be muddy for the foreseeable future. No pictures this week.

A 5lb smallie is a nice add. All my years on Rosie and never a smallie over 3 lbs. Nice post, water level still way down, or up a touch? Mtngrizz

We launched at Ft. Spokane yesterday. You have a couple more days before you have to launch at Seven bays. One section of dock still in the water and the ramp is at a 45 degree angle to get down to it. Thankfully ,no frost yesterday morning.

For the next month or so I expect the number of smallies to increase vastly as the water warms. I don't normally fish for them up the Arm but I know some guys that do and they do extremely well for them just downstream from buoy 5 in the shallow water. Launching at Seven Bays just means we have to add another 15 minutes on to the time it takes to get up the Arm.

Mark,
Thanks for the report, I can't wait for that water to clear up.
