Took advantage of the nice weather to get my family on the lake. We launched the boat on Beaver about 11am. Started fishing close to the launch with TMs, per TMBob's recommendation. Started getting hits right away, but after catching a couple and missing a few the bite abruptly died. We moved around to a new location and still couldn't find any fish. Could see fish surfacing in the middle the lake, so swapped out gear to troll a flat fish (fire tiger) and a WoolyBugger fly in olive. Made a loop without so much as a bump. Found another location where fish were surfacing actively, so stopped, anchored, and hooked the TMs back on. From then till we left at 1:30 it was fairly constant action with hits on most casts. Ended up with a total of a dozen to the boat and at least twice as many or more missed and some long line released. Pink was the most active color. Also hooked a few on white, yellow, and red, but didn't seem to get as much attention as the pink. TMs were tied between 2'-3' below the float with 6# fluorocarbon leader. And as usual, my wife caught most of the fish!
When we packed it in we gave away our TM setups to a couple guys fishing near us who were not getting as much action, so hopefully they got into some fish soon after.
Gorgeous day to be on the water. Met a lot of nice people out there. Can't wait to do it again.

Great day for sure! Nice gesture passing on the TM’s....always sharpen up those TM hooks, as they are not super sharp out of the box.

TMBob,
Been away from fishing for many years. What is a TM setup?

Thanks, Brad

when you fish the trout magnets are you twitching them or letting them sit or a slow retrieve under the bobber? also whats the average depth you run them at? I fly fish alot and it seems similar to running a chronomid under a indicator? thanks for the input been wanting to try these trout magents

@pnwfish24 - these are suspended 2'-6' (pending on current fish location/behavior) below a float/indicator using light mono or fluorocarbon leader. We found 2'-3' was good on this particular day. Cast out and light twitch-pause-twitch back towards you. They can be cast and twitched without the float, but for the typical spin fishing gear you need the weight of the float to get the casting distance. I agree, it's a lot like running a chironomid or weighted nymph under an indicator. The TM is on a jig hook though, so under a float it helps with the hookset.

Thanks for all the awesome info. Have you found the worms or spilt tails to be better? Looking for a better alternative to trolling the whole time out.

Hey, i might have seen you there, was with my son at about noon.
Funny you got yours by topfishing. I tried and got nothing, but then limited when started bottom fishing.
It was amazing how the fish were surfacing all the time.
Good stuff, the weather was really good.
