Launched out of Ft. Spokane and headed up river towards Blue Creek. Trolled a gold slow death hook rig and a chartreuse wally pop in 20-40 FOW with no luck, so we picked up and headed towards Buoy 1. Made a pass in 20 FOW near Buoy 1 and got some bumps, so we circled back through the same area and picked up a little eater, about 16 inches. We decided to try casting out some blade baits and jig set ups in the spot where we were getting hits. About the third cast with the blade bait, it gets hit hard. After a nice fight we land the fish in the picture above. Forgot to take any measurements as we were trying to get pictures and get it back in the water as soon as possible to go make more fish like it.
After a lull of about 45 minutes without getting anything or seeing anyone around land anything, we headed back up towards Blue Creek, and fish the Porcupine Bay side. First pass through, we landed an 18 inch on the gold slow death hook rig in 23 FOW. Sadly, that was it for the walleye action. Ended up picking up a nice 3 lb smallmouth on the blade bait right up on shore and a decent 17 inch rainbow right near the shore on a swim bait.
Didn't get the numbers we were hoping for, but catching that one fish made it memorable. Gold seemed to be the color of the day, which makes sense as the water was pretty dirty.
