Decided to head to Phillips after hitting up Mason lake to not much success, and to the fact that Spencer Lakes boat launch was blocked by a van that was out of tranny fluid and couldnt move. So we headed down to Phillips to check it out. The lake was surprisingly clear, it was nice. Launched and headed to the northwest tip of the lake fishing for bass. Set anchor in a spot where the fish finder was going crazy with at least 15 fish on the screen at all times. I threw on my 8 foot diving Baby Bass Rapala, and landed a couple. My buddy was fishing a drop shot. We switched rods for a minute and caught a smaller bass on a senko rigged drop-shot. First time catching a fish on dropshot nonetheless a senko/dropshot. Caught about 3 more smaller fish in the same area, they couldnt stay off our lines. Then my buddy was pulling anchor to move up lake a bit. I had my lure(9 inch green zoom lizard) rigged drop shot hanging in the water waiting to move and all of a sudden my pole started to go into the water. Luckily i was able to grab it before it went in. Line was only in the water about 2 feet, and i pulled up a 2 pound bass. Let the guy go and figured id throw it back in the same way see what happened and with 5 seconds, another 2 pound bass hit the same thing. I didnt set the hook good enough or at all so it got away but got it up to the boat. Great lake, lots of structure. We hit not even an 1/8th of the lake but from what we saw it looks to be a good bass lake. Lots of structure and big logs in the water on the west side of the lake. Remember practice catch and release!

Team C&R OUT!!
