Although the weather was great today, we saw very few boats out on the lake. Only one other trailer was in the lot at 10 am. Late morning i saw a few more, but pretty much empty which was nice. We tried about four areas and only one paid off with a couple of fish. The first was a 15 inch SMB, but it was so lethargic and the bite was almost imperceptible. I had been bumping some weeds and rocks, and then I thought i was just hung on a stick. The more I pulled back, them more it gave, so I was sure it was just a stick coming up. Even in the net, it didn't seem to care when I pulled the hook out.
Shortly afterwards I did hook a decidedly more aggressive fish which was in no mood for playing around. Immediately stripped line with authority. Unfortunately I didn't get to see it fully as the line broke just above the hook on the DS. Gotta check the line more often!
The wind picked up and we kept working a few other locations with no action. It was a bit depressing to see a moderate amount of nets along the shore - Jensen cove looked entirely canvased, so not much opening for fishing there. At least the sun was out and I got to bump a couple of fish.
