yet another incredible day on Lake Sammamish! today I was joined by a group of three experienced fisherman, and we had an absolute field day on the cutthroat.
our day started at 6:30, with lines in the water by 7. in 3.5 hours, we had caught 18 fish on Reli lures diamond flash spinners and kokanee trolling files, as well as God's tooth spoons from Elgin fishing. 3 fish were released. the fish today ranged from 15-18.5", all were nice and fat!
all of these fish were absolutely stuffed with salmon smolts. our largest fish have a 5.5" smolt in its gut, and the others were filled with 2-3" smolts. on the God's Tooth, we even caught trout with half of a smolt still hanging out if his mouth. they are certainly wolfing these future salmon down.
Cutthroat trout are voracious eaters and definitely do a number on the salmon smolt population from the Issaquah hatchery.
it was a great day on the water for sure! thank you to Steve, Marlin, and Wyatt for joining me today.
tight lines,
Captain Paul
