Very slight breeze on the water, overcast conditions. Started off about mid lake west side. First cast at a little after 8:30AM. Notice water temps is down 5 degrees from yesterday. Could be due to location though.

Start chucking the jerkbait into shallow waters. Spotted 1 follower a few mins in. About 15-20 mins into, I finally get a strike in and feels like a decent fish. Gave a nice fight and ends up being a 2.46# LMB. Short and fat. Next cast, BAM! Fish instantly surface and it's just a small SMB. 3rd cast and BAM! Maybe a 1.5# SMB. Back to back to back. Not bad.
Continue along and get another 1# SMB.

Moved to a new area and start pounding the shoreline. I hear splashing behind me and i can clearly see it's a SMB busting on the surface. Tossed the jerkbait at it and 2nd twitch, fish on! ~2# SMB and see a buddy chasing. 2nd cast into same spot and fish on! A small SMB. Definitely not the chaser. Make a 3rd cast into same spot and nothing. 4th cast and fish on! Looks like a short and fat 1# SMB. I horsed it at boat side and pops off. Quick release! Made several more casts in the area with swimbait, tube and wacky with no bites.

Continued along this shoreline and caught a couple more small SMB on the jerkbait. I dont generally toss the jerkbait much, but this one has an interesting bite. Some of these fish just wack it hard even if they are small. Some fish nibble at it. I can feel a few quick taps on the lure. I usually give the bait a quick light twitch and pause, then I'll feel the lure just load up. Using a jerkbait does wear you down though. I was working it really fast yesterday, just a tad slower today due to the cooler water, but still pretty quick.

Boat to a new spot that's a small flat with a little point. First cast at the point and fish on! Just a 1# SMB. While fighting this fish, I hear a splash nearby. Release my fish and tossed it in towards the flash. Felt a quick swipe, but no hookup. I see a ~1.5# hugging the bottom in ~7' of water. Tossed the DS at it, but it just swims away. First fish was the only fish at this area for me.

Moved further north and make multiple casts with the jerk. Lost a small SMB but the bite was slow. Pitched the DS onto a deep end of a dock. After several seconds of nothing happening, I looked away at something in the water making sure I don't hit it with the boat. I look up and see my line has moved.... reeled in the slack and fish on! 2# SMB.

Searched the area with the DS and even letting it soak but no more bites. I toss the jerk back out and feel resistances, set the hook and slack! FFFFUUUU Just broke off and lost my hot lure. I watch to see if a fish jumps, but nothing happens. I look at my line and see it all worn looking at the end. Wait a second.... what do I see out there.... It's my lure floating on the surface! Even though it's suppose to be "suspending", I notice it floats upwards slowly. I move up to retrieve it and see i must have hooked into a tree laydown. Looked at the lure eye and see no knot it on. I guess my knot just slipped after all these fish and jerking the lure. Retie and away I go.

Boated across the lake to see if I could recover my lost jerkbait attached to a LMB. Ran into a handful of #1 SMB in the area but no luck finding that LMB.

The biggest fish for the day was the very first fish. A couple SMB at 2# or so. A bunch in the 1# range and smaller. Those little ones were active today. Ended the day with about a dozen.

Didn't see you out there today. Started at 7 am and left before noon. Hooked about 7. Biggest was just under 19 inches. The rest cookie cutter 14". Lucky you on the retrieval. That must be a better one than mine. I also hooked crappie and perch today on the same rig.

I saw what I assume was your trailer and vehicle, but I didn't see you out on the water either. I actually didn't see many people out fishing. I only saw what looked like a pair of guys in a bass boat, and a pair of guys trolling in the middle of the lake was I was heading in.

Great report as always. I was hoping to meet up with you on the water this morning but I ran out of time so I went to Lk. Wash. which is much closer for me. I will post my report tonight. We will catch up soon. Tight Lines!

great report! fished the north end throwing DS and senkos as well as lipless cranks. absolutely dead up there for us.... only a couple hits and a couple bass caught. usually bassin is good up there for me, but I guess it was my turn to take a slow day on the lake. No clients today, so more of an investigation day than anything.

I've only fish the north end where all the lilies are once or twice in all these years. Never produced for me. I've caught a enough just south of it though.
