Perfection. Weather, fishing, laughter....and a lunch aboard the boat.

The weather was overcast for the first half of the day and then the sun came out but still not overly hot.
Water temps had increased almost three degrees from last week. Lots of fishermen in boats and on shore and peddle boats and kayaks, but still room for us. We started at noon and ended at 5:00pm.

I started out smelling of skunk with no fish in the boat which P. and K. thought was just great. But then I caught the largest fish first which held all day long. Then I started catching fish and had the lead with the most fish nearly all day but then thought I'd cut them some slack and took off my hot lure which allowed P. and K. to catch to me. I lost a brand new lure on its first use which wasn't cool, but we found a lure - an exchange with the fish gods.

By the last hour of the day I had 15, K. tied me with 15 and P. pulled into the lead with 18. A couple smaller cutthroat came into the boat but all rest were rainbows except my one red ear sunfish. All were returned to grow bigger but one almost didn't. Throughout the day we had several trout that floated on the surface when released and we would go back and right them or hold them until they revived and went down. One of P's last fish of the day was floating and we were in reverse to revive him when all of a sudden I heard flap, flap, flap and I hollered "Whooooaaaaa!" and an eagle came flying over the bow, right down the passenger seat and swooped off the stern attempting to get the trout before we rescued him. Fortunately for the trout and us, he revived with a millisecond to spare. K. had a sun skirt on his hat and the flapping of the eagle's wings lifted the skirt. If P. had stood up to see what was coming the eagle would have knocked him in the back of the head. It was all very exciting and would have made for a great video. 48 fish today.
