My brother in law and I decided to give Loon a try for night fishing kokanee. This activity is usually reserved for the "warm/hot" months of July and August. I have been reading reports for the trolers doing well in the AM so thought we should "test" the night fishing. Arrived about 8:15 PM and set up in the usual place on the Granite Point end of the lake. There were only a couple of other boats out: that should have been the first clue. The water was in the mid sixty's and it was windy...… not a good sign for the ever so slight bite while night fishing kokes. Sonared a bunch of fish while getting in place to set the anchor (I have an X in the bottom of the lake for the spot in 32' of water).

Dan got he first hit around 9:00 PM and got bit again with the first fish on for the evening. Almost landed it but it escaped before the trip to the cooler with ice and water....brrr! Then no more love for him or me; grrrr. We finally moved the boat shallower around 10 and I actually caught one that was 10" plus. Not a bad Loon koke for this time of the year. I have seen some pics with a tape at around 12" which is a great for early kokanee at Loon. We stayed till 11:00 PM with no more bites. The wind died down as we headed back to the dock, of course!

We'll be back again later after the heat is on.

Thanks Al I really want to try this on Conconullys upper lake monster kokes this summer. Said that the last year. Maybe I need some one to come show me how it’s done.

Yes that might be really fun. Have not fished there but have thought about it. Maybe we should set up a time to do that this summer.
