holiday weekend so took the wife and kid out on the dinghy from about 10am to noon...daughter isn't even 2 yet so outings with her have to be minimal. while the trip was short, it was also pretty sweet...especially for my wife, who broke her personal best SMB record with this monster (did a quick measurement on the cooler and it was pushing 21" -- in my experience that's a 5+ pounder...wife doesn't usually need a towel to liplock a bass =). her previous best was an ~19in. / 4.25lbs. from potholes last year. anyways, I ended up with four other smallies all nice sized between 14-17" but would have gladly traded for the one.

wife's setup
Shimano Compre 6'6 Medium Light / Fast Action Splitgrip Rod
Shimano Symetre 2500 Spinning Reel + 6lb. Trilene XL mono
1/4oz. dropshot with her favorite plastic (it looks pretty - it's pink =(
yamamoto rainbow trout laminate 4" senko
(can be hard to find so I'm not allowed to use them)
wacky rigged with 1/0 VMC spinshot hook

Nice fish! " I ended up with four other smallies all nice sized between 14-17" but would have gladly traded for the one."--- don't feel too bad, the 3 (or 4) you released back in will be that size in a few years also.... Unless this rule doesn't apply to Lake WA; "SmALLmOUTH BASS:
(See DOH advisory, page 16)
No min. size. Only 1 SMALLMOUTH BASS
over 14" may be retained. Daily limit 10.
Bass may be caught, retained, and released
alive from a livewell until a daily limit is in
possession." Notice the mercury advisory also; https://wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01914/2017-18_statewide_freshwater.pdf
F&G warned me when I took my son out in my 9' dinghy, all occupants need to wear a PFD at all times in boats under 16' in length. Rules really changed since I fished last (1965)...lol. Good catch...

I'd assume they were C&R so the Rule doesn't apply.
