I tried my luck at Lake Union today. I was trying for smallmouth or largemouth bass from shore. I started out the morning at West Montlake Park where I occasionally do well. No luck there! I threw a squarebill crankbait, jerkbait, Neko rig, and a Ned rig without any success. I had only 30 minutes left to fish, so I drove a short distance to West Ewing Park (Fremont Cut) and got lucky on the Ned rig. I snagged on the bottom and had to do the "bow and arrow" trick to get it unstuck. As soon as it popped loose, a smallmouth bass slammed it. I actually thought I had snagged again! The smallie fought super hard. I though I might have a huge one, but it wasn't that big once I brought it in. I caught a tiny rock bass right after that. All in all a nice morning out.
