Last minute decision to go fishing today found me at the launch about 11:30.
There were 4 boats pulling out while I was setting up my toon. After talking to each one what I should have done was pack it in and go home...they were all correct... the bite has turned off...TOTALLY!

Only 1 boat was fishing Crappie and Perch...they blanked completely, not even a bite they said.
The other 3 were trout fishing and only 1 boat had 2 small fish to show fo their efforts.

But...a bad day on the water as they say....so I tried anyway.
I threw just about everything I have at the fish..could buy a bite until I put on a 1/32 oz. the trout magnet in earthworm color. First drop I get a perch about 9”. After that...nothing the rest of the day. I put on a mepps spinner on 1 rod and a wedding ring on the other and trolled back to the launch at 4.

Darned leftovers for dinner again!

I have yet to catch a Crappie in this lake! I thought I was doing something wrong but...???????

This is my first season successfully targeting crappie in western washington (part of my kokanee replacement program..) The little private pond and Lake Sawyer that Ive been fishing in South king county both had a major crappie slump after the spawn. The major spawn period was when water first hit 65 degrees. The pond being a few weeks ahead of Lake Sawyer. Couple weeks ago, lots of action for weeks, then afterwards nothing. The pond crappie seem to have recovered now, but still slow in Lake Sawyer. I would guess that very shortly, the bite will be back on..... Mcmurray and Sawyer look like similar lakes. 32nd oz jigs with little 1-1.5 inch tube baits, or very small crankbaits seem best around my lakes. Crappie nibbles are magic, I smash em into a syringe and shoot em in side the tube body (this is the biggest benefit of tubes imo) Try fishing the outside edge of the weeds, in the same areas people have been crappie fishing earlier, just a little deeper. August -Sept many people switch to trolling the same baits, ( i like wedding ring spinners) very slowly to find suspended crappie, near the surface. Crappie dont seem to want much action, slow presentations are best. Thats all ive learned so far, hope it helps.

I don’t know why but I never got a notice of your comment...consequently I just found it. Lol...

I would never have thought of smashing up the nibbles and using a syringe! Very interesting methodology!!
Thanks for the tip!
Tight lines!!
