We got on the lake a bit late because we had a hard time getting the grandsons out of bed but they woke up quickly as we headed to Magnuson Park vicinity from Kenmore against a cold stiff breeze. we stopped off shore in about 120 FOW to get the rods on the downriggers, dropped them down to 40 and 50 feet respectively and headed toward shallower water. Less than 5 mins later the port rod pops off and a couple tugs later fish off. A bit surprised to get hit in such deep water I was a little late to the rod. Put the Sling blade/Wedding ring set up and in short the same rod starts pulsing hard. I handed the rod off to my 10 yr old grandson who played it to 20 feet from the boat when jumped out of the water a couple of times then came unbuttoned. It was a nice sized fish but I couldn’t I’d it. Ten minutes later the pops off and this time he lands a nice 15” now. He’s happy and I’m happy because he just took the skunk off our new boat. So fishing was a 2 or 3 but his smile was a 5. Two more hours and two
More misses and we called it a day
Thanks to rmrauscher for the tips and encouragement
