Fished a public dock in Kirkland to gather a few perch. This time of year it's hard to miss with them. I was keeping a half crawler and an egg just off of the bottom as the sun went down. Hooked what felt like a slow. persistent torpedo, that had no problem peeling line off the reel. Turned out to be a 21 inch Tench. I had to walk the thing into the shallows and beach it to land it. I'd put the weight over three pounds. These odd looking fish have huge fins, no teeth, and red eyes. They were introduced in 1903 at the Seattle Exposition. Lots of fun to catch. On my last few Lake Washington trips, I've been catching lots of bluegill, not the usual Pumpkinseed sunfish. I'm wondering if this is a trend anyone else is seeing. Tight lines!
