We were on the water by 6:15. We fished the area where I saw that monster last weekend but were unable to locate any active fish so off we went to hit a few other spots.

We got our first fish at 8:05 and by 8: 45 we had released 4 fish. First fish of the day was a hard fighting, line stripping 35 1/2"er that weighed in at 13 pounds even. She got a little scrappy in the net and managed to break one of my favorite spinnerbaits. One I had found hung on a tree branch about 3 years ago that has produced many fish for me.

I fished with my younger brother on this trip. Unfortunately for him it was a long day with only one hook up, that came at the very end of the trip and only lasted for about 10 seconds. No fish for him today.
Sometimes that's how it goes, especially when one is as "Lightly Experienced" as he is. Unfortunate for me, he also seems to be lightly experienced with a camera. He took a couple of shots of the big fish of the day for me, and when I went to view them, long after the fish was revived and released, they were nowhere to be found on the camera. HMM??
The fish in this photo was a healthy 27"er. I caught and released 6 pike on the day with one 35 1/2"er, one 30"er, three 27"ers and one dink at about 17".

All fish were caught on spinner baits in 8-12 feet of water. Bright oloored skirts with shiny silver blades did the trick. We fished water temps from 65 to 76 degrees throughout the day.

My biggest mistake was leaving the fish we found when things slowed a little, to head off to locations that have been producing for me so far this year. You know what they say, "Don't leave fish to find fish".

We fished from 6:15 am till about 2:30 pm when the wind was picking up and the pleasure boaters decided to take over the lake. I kind of felt like an exotic animal at the zoo. It seemed like every time we turned around, another pleasure boater was 15 feet away driving by at full plow staring at the fishermen. Exactly what is it about fishermen that is so interesting to those that don't fish, and why is it they feel the need to come so close to get a look??? Oh well, I could complain about this all night. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. LOL
