On our annual week long trip to Waitts fishing is as consistent as ever. Easy limits daily. Still fishing in 25-35 feet of water with shoe peg corn will give you good action on rainbows with a few browns to 22” mixed in. Berkeley Gulp red wigglers tipped with a piece of corn will get you mostly Browns with a few rainbows mixed in. The browns are just a few inches off the bottom. The bows are few feet higher. Out in front of Silver Beach Resort near the buoy just to the south of the launch is very good. In the heat of the day move out a little farther and the bite does not die down. A 13.5 lb Brown was caught off the dock by an angler Sunday morning. Been coming here for years and the fishing is always great.

There are some small cats in there. Have never seen much over about 10". They look more like a bullhead to me. We finished out the week with a few more big bows. One of which had a 10 inch rainbow, a crawdad in its belly, and what looked like some type of huge grub of which I have never seen or could find on the internet. I thought the crawdads were pretty much history in the lake, but that fish shows there are still some in there. Surprisingly the docks are still producing trout at Silver Beach Resort. The new owners are great people. Normally the water is a little too warm this time of the year. Maybe the late start to the hotter weather kept cool water within reach...
