Launched at Spencer, 0715.
1st time fishing the lake. I was concentrating mostly on 10-15’ water depths. Drop shotting and throwing a deep diving crankbait. The water has amazing clarity, with minimal salad.
I really like the stretch going left from the point, straight out across the launch. It is all tree line, with a steep drop off. Marked a lot of fish here, early 0700-0800. Then... timely... I brushed my fingers across the Lowrance, and BAM! Sonar goes black! Huh?!

I am kind of spoiled and like my sonar, so from there the day went to....

I had multiple strikes, and some hook ups via blue gill, )-: But my bass experienced sucked.

I picked up on 11-12” LMB on that nice stretch mentioned. Beautiful day.. fishing buddy and I took a dunk in the water, fishing via PA kayaks.
I’ll defined fish this lake early in the season. Lots of great rocky bottom, down trees, would be super easy to spot beds in the Spring.

Great launch area as well.

Nice to get a bass report again - especially on one of my favorite lakes. I have fished that lake more than 25 times - caught lots of bass up to 3 1/2 pounds. I saw lots of big bass but was never able to put one in the boat. My last trip there I hooked my first smallmouth. They should be coming on strong now. The lake is good early spring but it is also good during the early fall.

I was there Friday and the smallmouth are definitely established in there, as are the perch. I ended up with 64 fish mostly drop shotting, but probably close to half were perch (some decent ones in the 10-11" range) with maybe 15-20 smallies (topped out at 11-12") a couple of bluegill, a pumpkinseed and the rest small largemouth. I caught about half a dozen largemouth on a spinnerbait or lipless crank on the weedy flat near the launch, but everything else was deeper on a drop shot. I really would have liked to explore that far end with the points, but I felt I'd never get there in a float tube, plus the ski boats were tearing things up down that way. Still, plenty of them decided to come down and do donuts in the shallow end too. I'll be back in the fall when the ski boat hatch has dissipated. I have a feeling suspending jerkbaits would be killer there with the clear water. Things just have to cool down a little so the fish will move back shallow and get their feed on.
