Here is another late report from a few weeks back. We fished CDA lake for 5 days, July 31 - Aug 4. Mostly just fished for a few hours in the morning and bit in the evenings. Everyday was a new adventure. I picked Avery up and new 7' bait caster combo and he had it figured out in no time. He was flipping jigs and casting spinner baits like a pro. He out fished everyone and caught some really nice fish. Largest SMB over 21" and 5.4#. Largest Pike 30" and 6.5#. He even let his uncle catch his first a pike. Avery even knocked Tench off his list. Great trip making memories!

Well he’s already got me beat on the smallmouth ??. I had no idea tench lived in Washington. I guess that’s another one to add to my target list.

Grub, there are tench in Washington but they were fishing in Idaho. It's great to see you guys putting pike in the boat. We need more pike lovers out there to offset all the haters. That smallie is a pig. Very nice, Keep that kid fishing!!

Hey AverysAdventure!
Good to see you on here too. Saw your report on BFT too. Looks like a fun trip with the kid!
Not too often you see a tench on a fishing forum. Even less often when somebody posts one and doesn't get crap for it... Cool stuff! I've only caught a few of them, and I've tried quite a few times, so tell him congrats!

Good to see you on here as well. As you know the other forum you speak of has just about dried up. I'm enjoying this one now. Yes I'm glad everyone has been kind to the tench. It was funny when he pulled it up because he had never seen one before and he got this puzzled look on his face. Got good news from F&G today that will make Avery happy.

Greetings,
I received all your application materials for a catch/release record for Avery Arrhenius and a tench. Using the photos you supplied, I was able to measure the fish to around 18.7 inches. The record should be posted on our website in the next few days, and you’ll get a certificate in the mail in about a week.

Thanks!

So I'm guessing you entered it as an entry for the catch and release record? I think that's a great program. Sounds like you have a record holder in the family. I would frame that certificate, not matter what species of fish it was.
Tench are a very hard fighting fish by my experience. I don't eat a lot of fish so I fish for the fight. The squaw fish I posted about recently weighed a little over 5 pounds and fought like a 10 pound pike. I would have no complaints about catching several of them a day. However, if I did, the eagle population might just get a little over weight. :)
