We've heard of the treasures and treachery of Rock Lake; we decided to try fishing it again. We shoved The Doghouse into the water via the "boat launch" provided for the public. As big as the lake is, there were very few fishermen out---the ones there were friendly and helpful... ANYWAY, we braved the weather changes upon the lake, such as southernly wind, cloudiness, and RAIN, and the endurance proved worth it. A tradition was upheld: We found out that those fishing nets DO NOT FLOAT VERY LONG... We dropped ours into the lake by accident and by the time we returned to it: Glub-glub!! We either lose lures or equipment, but never the net! NEVERTHELESS, We scored; big-time! 16" trout was our biggest, but we nearly limited-out on lesser trout (and a couple of Silvers!) The fish seemed to hang close to the shoreline featuring basalt cliffs that dropped into the water; STRAIGHT DOWN. This lake is deep, but with a few surprises for anyone wanting to go supersonic on the lake surface (shallow rocks tend to take the fun out of that!) We had a great time fishing, and will go again. There are PLENTY of fish in Rock Lake---coaxing them onto the hook is a trick we need to perfect...
