I went out fishing for chums last weekend and this morning.Fishing a pink jig under a float I caught 20 chum in three hours from the bank last Friday and 8 in the same time this morning. The word must be out that the fishing is good because there’s a lot of people on the banks fishing. I see all the cars parked along the river and try to figure out which cars are fishermen and which one are homeless people. A lot of both. The fish this morning were brighter than the ones last week. There must be a fresh squirt of fish up the river. All the fish were caught and released. I try to get my fishing buddies to go chumming with me and they all Poopoo it. They’re crazy. Chum fishing is awesome !!!

Nice report man! Tipping the jig with prawn or running it naked? There's definitely a lot of folks lining the banks...Counted over 100 rigs in just 3 spots above Hwy 18 this past Monday.

In the early am, when driving home from my late night night squid adventures, I see nearly as any rigs parked along green valley road. Unbelievable... never seen this many green chum fisherman.

Awesome report, glad to see you getting after them! Just one thing, please keep them in the water if you're going to release them! I know it can be difficult but releasing them quick in the water greatly improves their chance of making it up river to do their thing so we can keep fishing for them. Every little bit helps.

It’s actually listed in the regs that you must leave them in the water if you’re releasing them. I didn’t realize that either until I was re-reading the regulations last week.

I really don’t get why some people are so elitist about which species they fish for. I’d get really bored if I only fished for a couple of species. They’re all fun in their own right, though chum are some of the most fun. I’m hoping for some fresh fish out my way, not much going on this week on The Satsop.

I understand about keeping the fish in the water but since it’s not catch and release only I don’t have a problem with taking them out of the water.

Wow lol that's great reasoning.... If you're not killing it you have no reason to remove it from the water, CnR or not

It's actually a regulation. Warden doesn't care if you have a problem with it or not. If you are not keeping you are required by law to leave it in the water. Not here to tell anyone what to do while fishing I am clearly stating the law. I won't be the one getting the ticket for not following the rules. Just saying

"If its not C&R I dont have a problem"that makes no sense.Do the fish you enjoy catching a favor,so the opportunity will continue to exist. Why stress the fish any more than you have to?Im sure that kind of stress could mess with there spawn.Seems more like a lazy thing.

No worries. I’ll bonk them all next time. I don’t want to be breaking any rules. I need the roe anyway

If you bonk 28 in two days you will be breaking a lot of rules. Get a clue.

Those poor fish. They were on their way to do what they only do once in their lives and then die. The process of hooking and then landing prolonged their jolly time by 5 or so minutes. You probably also indirectly took out 3 or so killer whales.

Kenaiwild that was just plain hurtful . I love the whales, espesially with mayo between a couple slices of bread.

Slap some bacon on and they’re even better!

Seriously though .... I’ve fished with red numerous times and he always takes care of the fish. Gentile slide up the clay/mud quick hook out and back in the water in seconds. If you guys want to rip on someone then rip on those guys taking 5 minutes to get a pic of the “perfect release”.
