Another great day trout fishing on Lake Roosevelt! We launched about 0745 at Lincoln with just one other rig at the ramp. It was rain down in the river valley as opposed to the snow up on Hwy 2 so the ramp was in great shape. Started fishing at Hawk Creek. Water temp was 49 degrees and we caught a few (mostly close to shore off the points east of Hawk Creek in the Columbia) but the bite died off about 1030 so we headed downriver to the goat farm area where the water was a little warmer (51 degrees) and the action was faster. Lots of "wild" unclipped fish here but plenty of action. Ended the day about 2:30 with our 10 fish limit of legal keepers all between 16-18". We released at least 8 unclipped fish, the largest being just under 20". For us, the best fishing here was also close-in to shore. Once again, the orange Uncle Buck's spoons were consistent producers trolled 1.8-2.0 knots on the downriggers 15-18 ft deep and a few different flies worked 120' behind the planer board with a 5/8 ounce weight as long as they had some orange in them. The chartreuse fly that was productive 2 weekends ago didn't catch any so was soon replaced. R-fly scent sprayed on the flies & spoons (and our hands) definitely seems to help our catch rate.

We were hopeful when we marked some deeper fish out from Jones Bay in the main channel that there may be a few Kokanee there so we went down 32-36 feet on the riggers with some pink offerings but all we managed to catch there was one small rainbow so the search for the elusive Kokanee continues....
