I was heading to the Hump, took the short cut to Devonshire road. As I passed the first bridge, the greenish water of the Nooch was so inviting that I had to slow down just to see if it was fishable. In my mind, I already bailed on the Hump trip. I got to the first hole, and there was one local fisherman fishing. He was there before day light. I talked to him for a while. then he left without fish. During the time I was talking to him, I was fishing with pink worms. Then I switched to spoons and spinners, no bumps, so I began to throw some eggs. First cast, fish on! It didn't feel very big because it was swimming towards me. The fish turned on its side, and I saw how big it was. Panic really set in when I realized I still had my 8lb leader from my last trip to the Hump. The fight went on up and down the hole, for what felt like hours. I finally wore it out enough, and I landed my biggest buck on this river. I called it a day after the fight because I was tired and soaked, since it was raining the whole time I was fishing.
