We launched at Lincoln this morning (yes, the Roosevelt ramps are still open despite the partial government shutdown). Not many people out today but it was a beautiful, cool & calm day. It was 24 degrees when we arrived at the launch about 0730 and water temp was about 41. We started trolling across the river from Lincoln and headed down river. The day started pretty slow but the action picked up as we neared the bay across from Sterling Point. We had a hard time finding one consistent fly but caught a couple fish on most everything we tried (orange, as usual, was the common denominator for productive patterns). We caught several on Uncle Bucks spoons (both orange and perch colored from 13-29 feet on the rigger). A little bit slower trolling speed was better for us today (1.6-1.8 knots). Finished the day about 3 pm with our limit of 10 bows from 16-20 inches plus released 8 with intact fins. We also enjoyed watching the Bighorn sheep feeding down close to the shore. Made me wish I had a better camera on board. All in all, a great way to start the new year so I'll give it a 5!
