Launched out of Ft. Spokane with my buddy Glenn. The launch was very icy; backing a trailer was definitely not for the faint of heart. The right side (as you look at it) has quite a bit of sand; the left side was just ice. It would help if people would hesitate for 30 seconds after launching with the trailer at the waters edge; this would limit the amount of water splashed onto the ramp. Back to fishing. We headed up the Columbia and worked outhouse flats. We picked up a couple of eyes and Glenn caught a Pike. We then hit casino flats. Same thing a couple of eyes. We then headed up the Arm and hit both the first and second islands. Picked up a couple more eyes at each spot and then called it a day. We kept 9 eyes between 16-19 inches and released one 13 inch dink. The Pike was about 23 inches. We caught everything on jigs in 35-50 FOW. Black jig head with a green red/gold flake grub produced all of our fish. We had to fight white caps on the main river so that forced us up the Arm.

Man you sure know how to dress up a yellow bucket. Thanks for the report.

I think they've got a 10$ bounty on those hammer handles on the Columbia anyway. Another month left of duck season before i'll see you out on the water.

Good luck!

I agree with the 30 seconds of hesitation at launch and retrieve. Well said. Thanks. Andy

Nice haul and pike are great table fare! Agree with the stop and drain at water's edge, I drop motors too so I don't leave an ice slick at top of ramp.

Glad to see you got some "eyes" Mark. Thanks for the report. I too like to pause and let the trailer drain when pulling out of the water launching or retrieving. Sure makes a big difference on the amount of ice on the ramp! Studded tires don't hurt either...Alan
