First off, would like to thank Bonanzamel, Partime, and others for posting reports that encourage others to follow their steps. Thanks fellas!
We launched at Ft. Spokane around 8:30 am and headed up the Columbia. With just a slight breeze we enjoyed flat water as we skimmed to the cliffs about 7 miles up river. We needed our heater to make up for the 33 degree air. We found fish occasionally in multiple locations all around 17-24' in 50 FOW. Around 9:30 we had several takedowns that didn't stick to our flies. I switched from trolling flies (2 single hooks) to our hand tied hootchies with a trailing barbless hook. We had 14 takedowns resulting in 8 netted fish. We safely released 3 hard fighting wild Redbands and 1 smaller rainbow, for others to catch. We didn't take our limit, just enough for a couple of great meals. I gave it a 4 because of the unexpectedly good time we had! We'll take photos next time, sorry.
We called it a day shortly after 1, and were surprised to see 17 trailers in the parking area. The bathrooms were clean but unmaintained due to the Government shutdown. Many thanks to the person who donated the Kleenex box!
