I fished with Brian (Brisco) on his new 21' Hewes Searunner with hardtop and diesel heater on the last day of 2018. What a great day to be out catching kokanee! We got started around 7:30 and my lead core at three colors soon found the first kokanee of the day. The RMT UV50/50 orange and moonjelly paired with a white/orange spatter Assassin really triggered the bite on the Hayden kokes. It was a Christmas gift from Fishdawg ( Bryan Peck). The #2 hooks really " grabbed" those kokes!! Brian was running on downriggers at 30 to 45 deep and was getting hits but the fish really didn't want to stay on. I also ran a downrigger at 30' and got a few on it. 1.2-1.5 mph with the iTroll on Hunt seemed to do the trick.
The bite died off around 11:30 and the fish were scattered so we had to work for them but a really nice day and great friendship make for an awesome fun time on the water the last day of the year. The kokes are running just under 12" to about 13.5"; really fat and so beautiful. Finished with 17 in the boat for the day.
iFishSolutions will be in booth #556 at the Puyallup Sportsman's Show. Drop by and say hi if you're in the neighborhood.

Hey Alan, you sure seem to have a knack for finding rides on nice boats. And, finding fish at 3 colors. And, making me jealous. And, Thanks for the report. Andy

Three colors....thats all I have on the Ambassador reel plus 60' fluro leader. Three colors just has to work cause that's it!. As far as the rides in nice boats....well it's great to have friends because of the iTroll business. Life is good.

Thanks Mike, getting to fish kokes in North Idaho in late December out of a boat is a real treat! My version of ice fishing....heated boat.

Hmm, 3 colors and a 60' fluorocarbon leader wonder why that works. :-D

Got a full spool of leadcore on my reels and 50' of fluorocarbon. Got the crazy idea a year or so ago to despool the leadcore and respool in reverse so the new portion was now outside. Where did I get the crazy idea I needed to do that? LOL

Nice haul of fat kokanee and great pictures. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Well when you've used it so much you cant tell what color is out then reversing makes sense. When you only have three there is no need to reverse cause it all goes out to the backing (10# Power Pro) Who wants to lift a big reel with 10 colors on it anyway? LOL Need to go deeper; that's what downriggers are for.

Fishing in Idaho and on somebody else's boat. What a deal. Keep thinking I will get setup for Idaho and then just never pull the pin. Good Job, thanks for the report.
