Launched at Keller about 10am. Trolled the bays downriver for an hour. Nada. Zip. Went up river to Jones Beach area. Found a few bites but not consistent and had difficulty boating the few we hooked. Not horsing them, not giving slack. They just let go on the way to the boat. Wind was a problem with boat control as we were fishing close to shore in the bays. Lost a downrigger ball while trying to work a shallow troll in one of the bays so had to rig that pole with a lead inline weight. Still, we got four in the box and lost four on long releases. Orange got the most bites, but nothing was great. Didn't see much on the graph either. Plan to go back to Ft Spokane Friday. Hope to do better. This is the first trip we have not limited since November. Still beats working.

went out the day before in the Sanpoil Arm and got skunked. Marked a lot of fish deep, 50 to 250 hugging the bottom and not interested, most hanging around rocky points which is guranteed to lose a downrigger. water temp 37 degrees.

Fish that deep are probably whitefish, especially if they are schooled. They wont bite a trout lure. I have dragged the downrigger through schools like that with no bites.
