Ahhhhhhh Spring!! I'd like to be chasing steelhead but with the numbers I'm leaving them alone. PLUS WDFW put the Triploids in. Spent a few hours up at Blue Lake with light wind and mild temps. The bites were constant and very soft. Plenty of fish, and time of day didn't seem to mater. Got the Triploid and one small on my favorite hatchery fish rig. Worm and Marshmallow on 18" leader with 1/4 oz slip sinker. Got the others on Green power bait. The smallest one was a hold over from last falls plants. Pan fried trout for dinner tonight.

Played a game to see how much scent mattered. Smoked my pipe then baited the hook, no nothing. Washed my hands in the dirt, back in business. Every time I tested. It mattered to the steelhead this winter and it even seems to matter to new hatchery fish. I wear gloves to fuel the truck now.

That's why you spray you steelhead gear with WD40.
Nice Fish and thanks for the beautiful pics and reporting. Love those lakes down there. Watch out for the rattlesnakes though.

Thanks. I've always heard about WD40 but didn't quite know why. I dunked egg skeins and yarn or crawler with lead when I lived on the west side years ago, and it didn't seem to matter . Now that my son is 30 and interested the chase for steelhead as been on, but with the low numbers this fall and winter it took total focus to get a few fish. Older dogs can learn new tricks
