We had a chance to fish a couple rivers on the Olympic Peninsula over the last weekend of March with some decent success both days. We pretty much tried every technique imaginable from swinging flies to back-trolling plugs, but the most successful one turned out to be fishing 4.5 inch plastic worms on 1/8 ounce jig heads in various colors suspended under floats. Most of the fish we were able to find were hanging in the ends of the slower, deep holes almost at the tail-out as the water was a bit on the low, clear side at the time of this trip. I would say winter steelhead fishing should remain pretty good for a few more weeks out on the peninsula even though the window is closing fast on the winter/spring season.
