4 times in a little over a week! I feel privileged, well sort of anyway. It’s a good thing I love being on the water because today was not one for catching kokanee. I had tentatively planned to chase kokanee this morning. In fact when I got home Tuesday I even left the boat attached to the truck. I had decided to use my GoFish Cam this morning and further decided to update the firmware to fix a couple glitches before I headed out the door. A tech guy I will never be and between this, that and who knows I got a late start. I don’t think that I hit the water until around 8:30-9:00.
As usual I started with a variety of Poulsen Cascade Arrow Flash dodgers but ended up cycling through a number of swing blade dodgers also. Behind the dodgers I was running a variety of smaller silver spinners with primarily pink, green and orange beads. Unlike Tuesday there was no kokanee Konga party to be had, I was alone on the dance floor. That said, just after I got the gear down, I had two different fish break the lines out of the downrigger clip but they did not commit. Then later in the morning I caught a micro-perch. Samish can be humbling and a test of my kokanee mojo.
Speaking of a test, I did finally dig get some underwater video. I haven’t looked at it yet but at least the file is on the card. Getting there was a challenge, I had to disable the WiFi and phone App then manually operate the camera. At least I figured that out… Fish or no fish, it was a relaxing morning and you can’t beat a day on the water!
