Despite the crazy weather, I was determined to take advantage of a day to get out. Got to Beaver at 10a. Light rain and fish jumping everywhere. Got the kayak launched and into the frey for some c&r action. I started with a Trout Magnet and immediate started getting hits. Didn't take long to boat one, then two, then three....a few fish in and I hooked one of the larger trout. Wasn't a huge fight, but still fun and was able to net it. Maybe 2-3lbs and dark. After that the rain hit hard and the fish stopped jumping....and stopped biting. When the squall passed the surface activity increased a bit and I started getting some more hits. Then the wind came in hard and the bite turned off again. When the wind lightened up I found a few more biters....then the sun came out and it was a like a ghost town. I switched to trolling a plug and made a pass up the lake a ways and back down without a bump. I saw a few fish surface near shore, so headed over there and broke the Trout Magnet back out. Was able to entice a few hits. The clouds came back and covered up the sun and the bite picked up over time. It then remained pretty steady until I quit at 1p. Got about 30 fish to the boat and lost or missed twice as many. The weather was a bit obnoxious, but catching fish made up for it.
