I actually didn't fish all day. Today was a split day. I started early in the morning getting the kayak on the water just before 7:30. It was calm and overcast with a slight mist. There were fish surfacing everywhere. I started with a Trout Magnet and it was like fishing in a bucket. I switched to a home made casting spoon and caught a few, then back to the TM. It was that way until just after 8a, then things started to slow down. The bite seemed to come in waves and then petered out almost altogether. I quit at 9a after waiting 30 minutes for that "last fish".
Fast forward to 3:30. I was back for round two. Fish were rising sporadically. The first few casts with the TM resulted in hits though, but then things slowed down and I had to go searching for some fish. Despite rising all over, they didn't want to bite. I tried casting and trolling a spoon a bit, but nada. From what I saw around me that didn't seem to be working for others either. I went back to the TM and kept up the hunt and cast. Using this method I was able to catch a number of fish, but it took a lot of effort. I did manage to hook one of the larger trout though that was at least a couple pounds. It fought great with multiple drag peeling runs and a couple good aerials before I was able to net it. Thought I was gonna blow that one on a couple of occasions. Success. All fish released to fight another day. Off the water at 7:30 and by that time things had really slowed down.
