Went out past Tum Tum for the delayed opening of the Lake Spokane boat launch. We got a late start as we spent our first half hour removing floating trees, driftwood and flotsam blocking the launch. Only one side of the launch was useable as the upstream portion had 2' of deposited sand and other debris blocking boating access. The 9 mile dam upstream is dumping massive amounts of water, in anticipation of spring melt. The debris being washed down is clogging the main channel and requires cautiously slow navigation. Arriving at the coffee colored slack water, close to long lake dam we deployed some new equipment to test. Our "Off Shore" planer boards work well in the chop, slowed only by occasional driftwood.
We were on the water for about 4 hours, picked up 3 small fish all returned safely. We did mark several schools of larger fish, but found none wanting to play.
I would wait several weeks for the sediment to settle before trying again.
