After getting skunked at Umatilla, and Banks lake last week, we decided to try something new. Put in at Fort Spokane about 10:30. Went up Spokane Arm cuz wind was blowing hard out on Roosevelt. Found some good shoreline and started bottom bouncing. Picked up first fish within 50 yards. Kept hitting the usual good looking shorelines and caught well over 30 walleye. Caught fish on several different worm harness rigs with spinners, flatfish and smileys. Yellow and bright blue were the best, and caught a number on gold spinners with perch holograms on one side. Most were pretty small, but they bit regularly until dusk when we left. We kept 14 for eating. Our best 3 fish were two 21 inchers and an 18 inch saugeye. Most fish were in 18-45 feet of water, but picked a couple in more shallow. Glad to see things starting to pick up a bit more.

Where are the Sauger coming from to mix up with the walleye? I've caught tons in the upper Midwest (LOTW) but never here in the Roosevelt system. Brad, saugeye is a cross between a Sauger and walleye. Not as prominent; if at all white tip and a darker purple tint body with dark markings on their front fins is what I've seen, usually smaller always as well in mature size. A quick Google search

I thought that was what the reference was about. Closest sauger I’ve caught was in the upper Missouri River...above Ft Peck Res. Just wondered if someone has caught a sauger out of Roosevelt?

First saugeye I have ever caught west of the continental divide. Catch a lot st Peck and all down the Missouri River but never this far west.

Did not take any pics, as there were no 26+ inch fish. But I have fished walleye for 45 years in the Missouri River from Three Forks MT to Sioux City IA. My fishing partner is a walleye guide out of Pierre SD. We have caught several sauger, and saugeye over the years in Peck, Sacacawea, Oahe, Sharp, Francis Case, and Lewis and Clark Lake. So we know the difference.
